Here is how to do it. Keep in mind that when you share someones post to your story anyone who views it can see who originally posted it and can view the original account.
Navigate to the post youd like to share and tap the paper plane icon.

That means that even if theyre your friend and you can see the post you wont be able to share posts with folks that wouldnt have been able to see the original.
In order for you to share a story post the original poster needs to have a public account.
Its the one next to the comment button.

In theory it is possible to post an instagram story from safari but your computer needs to allow portrait orientation.
Tap add post to your story.
If not you can always use safari to post pictures or videos.
How to share feed posts in your instagram story.
Tap in the top left of your screen or swipe right from anywhere in feed.
If you hate the idea.
Tap below the photo or video in feed.
This will bring up the send to menu from which you can share the post as a direct message.
You should be able to change your display settings and post a story.
Once someone tags you in their story instagram will promptly alert you via a notification.
